Charitable Giving
Supporters of Peter & Paul Community Services play
a vital role in shaping the future of the agencys
work with persons experiencing homelessness, mental illness,
addictions, and HIV/AIDS. Through your generosity, programs
and facilities are maintained and developed, opportunities
are provided for clients and the agencys future is
secured.
Representatives of the PPCS Development Office administer
major current and deferred gifts to the agency. To help
you plan your current or deferred gift, we are available
to meet with you and your financial advisor to answer questions,
provide tax assistance, and help you with bequest and beneficiary
issues. Let us help you create a gift plan that will best
express your desire to benefit the work of Peter & Paul
Community Services while fulfilling your personal financial
goals.
A Current or Deferred Gift to Peter & Paul Community
Services ensures the agencys future, can provide life-long
income for you and reduces or eliminates taxes on capital
gains and federal estate taxes.
Below are the types of Major Gifts you can make to Peter
& Paul Community Services. Each has advantages for your
own financial planning while enhancing the future of our
work with those who are homeless.
Current Gifts
Current gifts may be used in a variety of ways. Peter &
Paul Community Services offers 6 programs each meeting various
needs of those experiencing homelessness. A Current Gift
may be used to support a specific program or service. When
you name a specific purpose or program to receive the benefit
of your donation, your gift is classified as a "restricted
gift".
Deferred Gifts
Deferred gifts or "planned gifts" are integrally
connected to your personal financial and/or estate plans.
Such gifts range from small bequests to multi-million dollar
trusts.
Deferred gifts are given today but Peter & Paul Community
Services does not realize the benefit of that gift until
some time in the future.
There are two types of deferred gifts.
1. Estate Gifts
2. Life Income Gifts
Estate Gifts
Estate gifts are usually the largest gifts individuals
will ever make. They may consist of hundreds or millions
of dollars. Like all other gifts they may be "unrestricted"
for use where need is greatest, or "restricted"
to a particular program. Estate gifts allow for an individual
to continue impacting the agency for future generations.
Life Income Gifts
Life Income Gifts are gifts that give back to you.
When an individual makes a gift of cash, securities, and/or
real estate to Peter & Paul Community Services, the
right to retain and receive income from those assets remains
in place while the individual is living. Typically a spouse
or other beneficiary in the gift contract will receive life
income should you die before them. At your death, or the
death of the last beneficiary, Peter & Paul Community
Services would receive the remaining principal.
