Philanthropists Dennis & Judy Jones Give $250,000 to support Peter & Paul Community Services
(St. Louis) Philanthropists Dennis & Judy Jones made a major contribution to support the work of Peter & Paul Community Services this week. The money will be used for operations and to support the agency’s work with mentally ill, substance abusing homeless men and women.
“Mr. & Mrs. Jones have supported our agency for several years. Recently Mr. Jones spent a morning meeting some of our clients and staff and learning about the work we do,” said executive director Steve Campbell. “He has a real concern about people who are homeless and wants to have a positive and lasting impact on the lives of those in need.”
The gift comes at a time when the agency is preparing to open a facility that will offer ‘round the clock supportive housing for 25 chronically homeless men and women.
Peter & Paul Community Services serves the most difficult-to-help homeless population - those who are chronically homeless. The agency typically takes on cases involving severe mental illness, HIV/AIDS and drug or alcohol addiction for those who have refused or been denied help by other programs.
Begun in 1981, Peter & Paul Community Services (PPCS) today manages three transitional housing programs, an emergency shelter, and a meals programs serving over 1,500 unduplicated clients annually. PPCS offers psychiatric care, job skills training, help for chemical addictions, food, shelter and a welcoming community for those who are lonely. Over 1,300 volunteers contribute approximately 8,000 hours of service each year.
